HOW CAN I GET OPTUNE?

Your doctor will discuss your treatment plan with you and will prescribe Optune therapy for you. As soon as we have all documents and have received the prescription, Novocure will contact you directly. Optune is available in over 260 centers across Europe. If your attending physician is not certified to prescribe Optune, Novocure can certify them, if they are interested, meaning that you will not usually need to change your doctor. Otherwise, your treatment may be coordinated at another center.

THE OPTUNE THERAPY SCHEDULE

Optune therapy for a newly-diagnosed glioblastoma will usually begin approximately 4 weeks after your combined chemoradiotherapy has ended. You will usually receive Optune therapy and temozolomide maintenance therapy at the same time. There is no standard treatment for recurrent glioblastomas. Please discuss exactly when you will start treatment with your attending physicians. Optune therapy is available in many European treatment centers.

OPTUNE IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE

Optune is a therapy suitable for daily use. It is an outpatient treatment, so you can stay mobile and pursue your activities as usual. You can travel with Optune, or use the therapy at work. If necessary, you can wear a loosely-woven wig, a hat or other head covering over the transducer arrays.

STARTING THERAPY AT HOME

After your doctor has prescribed Optune for you, Novocure will arrange some personal training for you to start the therapy. During this session, the technical personnel (device support specialists) will explain the therapy. You will be able to start the therapy in the comfort of your own home.

RELATIVES OR FRIENDS

You may need help to change the transducer arrays. For this reason, you should invite your relatives or friends to take part in the training before you start the therapy. This way, they will also meet your device support specialist.
